The Cycle2Work scheme is now open.

The popular Cycle2Work scheme is a Government tax exemption benefit introduced to promote healthier journeys to work.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is signed up to the Halfords Cycle2Work scheme which means you can gain access to a new bicycle and safety equipment whilst making savings of up to 32.25% (basic rate taxpayer) or 43.25% (higher rate taxpayer) on a new bike and safety accessories through income tax and National Insurance Contributions (“NIC”) savings.

This means you'll save money compared to purchasing a new bike outright. What's more, by paying for this monthly from your salary, over a period of 12 months, you'll hardly notice the cost – this is called a salary sacrifice.

The maximum order value of the bicycle and safety equipment is £2,000 and eligible staff have the option of either obtaining a bicycle through Halfords or from an independent local retailer, if they are registered as a retailer for the Halfords Cycle2Work scheme. Details of participating local retailers can be found on the Cycle2Work website.
