SSE Evidence Help Sheet
The HDRC Service Self-Evaluation (SSE) evidence Help Sheet is a resource designed to support anyone completing a service self-evaluation for their service area, by making it easier to identify, access, and use a wide range of relevant evidence.
Drawing on the ‘Evidence pie’ framework, this help sheet supports you to consider multiple types of evidence—including professional knowledge, lived experience, population data, organisational data, impact measurement data, and academic research—when responding to each SSE question. It is a single Excel workbook with each worksheet dedicated to a specific SSE sub-question, making it easy to locate the guidance and resources most relevant to your needs.
Each section of the help sheet aligns with a specific SSE question or theme, offering reflective questions, practical examples and direct links to data sources to guide you through each evidence type.
The aim of this resource is to help ensure that your self-evaluation is robust, balanced, and reflective of the full spectrum of available evidence and information.
Please note: The help sheet is intended as a guide, not an exhaustive list of all possible data sources. It is designed to prompt you to think broadly about the evidence you use and to support you in drawing from a variety of sources.
