By the end of the training, participants should be able to:
1. Understand the spectrum of Learning Disabilities:
- Identify the characteristics of different types of learning disabilities, with a focus on PMLD.
- Understand the impact of profound and multiple learning disabilities on individuals' lives.
2. Identify the Needs of Individuals with PMLD:
- Recognise the sensory, physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of individuals with PMLD.
- Recognise the challenges and opportunities associated with supporting individuals with PMLD.
- Understand the need to adapt communication strategies based on the individual’s abilities.
3. Apply Professionalism and Respect in their work:
- Demonstrate attitudes that respect the dignity and autonomy of individuals with PMLD.
- Understand the importance of maintaining person-centred approaches while ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals.
