Aims & Objectives
AIMS:
Following completion of this course practitioners will:
- Have an understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), long-term trauma and their impact on CYP
- Explore statistics and data on ACEs, prevalence and impact
- Introduce information on ACE Hub Wales and the TRACE Toolkit
- Understand how trauma and attachment affect CYP
- Understand how CYP may respond and behave due to early-life experiences
- Develop enhanced skills and strategies to support CYPs impacted by trauma
- Develop relaxation skills and mindfulness
- Explore guided imagery
- Explore managing flashbacks
- Explore ideas for keeping well
- Develop creative activities for ongoing coping
- Considering relationships, assertiveness and boundaries
- Explore how our thoughts affect us
- Explore Ideas for self-esteem and ongoing self-care
OBJECTIVES:
A training course for all who work with
children, families and young people to provide an understanding of
trauma-informed practice. It will
support the development of a trauma informed approach and consider how to
implement this into daily practice’
