    AIMS:

    • Understanding the benefits to carers and the children in care of reflective practice.
    • Learning about attachment difficulties, the effects of trauma and abuse and the long term implications for child and carer.
    • How to use supervision (through peers and managers) to consider compassion fatigue and reflection on how to not see this as a weakness.
    • Consideration of your role in offering therapeutic parenting to children and young people.


    OBJECTIVES:

    Following this course you will:

    • Feel equipped to refine and improve your fostering approach.
    • Learn how to use reflection to inform changes in behaviour.
    • Gain confidence in your ability to improve outcomes for your foster child. Understand how reflective parenting helps children in care improve their own emotional wellbeing.
    • Have the tools you need to practise this daily.
    • Feel able to recognise when you need support and to have the confidence to ask for it
