• Aims & Objectives

    This course aims to support those working with people with learning disability to understand the law in relation to capacity in the context of sexual practices, and staying safe online.

    The course will specifically address:

    •         consent to sexual relations (person and act specific test),

    •         relevant information in the context of sexual violence,

    •         autoerotic asphyxiation,

    •         arranging sex workers and the risk of sexual offences, and

    •         social media and internet use.

     

    The course will draw on case law which supports professionals in the application of law in practice.
