Understand how informed use of the Mental Capacity Act can aide you to support people without them feeling restricted; so that people can feel free to make decisions for themselves and take risks again and have a greater sense of independence.

Recognise the impact of loss of liberty and human rights, on a macro and micro level; being restricted from personal freedom, lacking the ability to live a familiar lifestyle, making choices about what care is needed or received, being unable to exercise decision making about day to day living, enjoying privacy and freedom.

Through real-life examples, apply the principles of consent, unwise decision making and best interests into the supporting of the people you work with.
