• Target Group: 

    Social Workers, Nurses, DoLS Best Interests Assessors, Community Care Assessors and other practitioners who use the Mental Capacity Act

    Aims

    To encourage discussion about MCA themes and topical issues to promote peer support and professional development among staff responsible for complex ethical and practical decisions in routine health and social care practice

    To combat and overcome the effects of isolation due to working arrangements during the period of pandemic precautions

    Objectives

    Social media apps and remote working capabilities will be used to encourage interaction and discussion.

     

    Sessions will include:

     

    - Briefings on policy and case law

    - Discussion of topical issues

    - Viewing relevant presentations and briefings available online

    - Considering cases studies

    - Sharing accessible resources

    - Plenary discussion to encourage the sharing of practice dilemmas

    - Preparation for the implementation of the Liberty Protection Safeguards
