    Aims:

    A half day virtual training session(over Zoom) to look at how the Mental Capacity Act applies to people who have acquired brain injuries

    Objectives: 

    Applying the 3-stage process of assessing capacity to people with ABI

    Applying the "causative nexus" to people with ABI

    The concept of executive capacity/functioning and ABI - being able to carry out the action in real life about which there is doubt about capacity

    The burden of proof - how sure do you have to be that your assessment is correct?

    Making best interests decisions in relation to people with ABI

    What can we learn from real cases that have gone to the Court of Protection involving people with ABI?

    The group's own questions and concerns relating to mental capacity and people with ABI
