Detective Chief inspector Mark Kavanagh of the South Wales Police Anti-Corruption Unit is presenting on the thematic area of “abuse of position by police officers for sexual gain” which has become one of the highest counter-corruption priorities for police forces, including South Wales Police. Unfortunately in the past some South Wales Police officers have been found to be committing gross breaches of the trust placed in them for sexual gain and these have been against the more vulnerable people in our communities. The presentation is aimed at staff who regularly work with vulnerable people so that awareness can be raised of some of the signs that show a police officer may be misusing their position for sexual gain and to establish good working relationships should any reports need to be made.
