RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION

If there are too many applicants for a post can other criteria be used make short listing easier?

No, only the criteria that already exist on the person specification can be used. If this is changed, the post will need to be advertised again.

If there are a large number of candidates that meet the essential criteria on the person specification, then the desirable criteria could be looked at next.

All criteria should be reviewed before advertising the post to ensure they are still appropriate.

What application form should be downloaded?

This will be clearly stated on the advert. There are 2 different application forms on Inform. The disclosure application form must be completed when applying for a post that has a requirement to work with children or vulnerable adults. The general application form should be completed for other posts.

What happens if there are no applicants for a vacancy?

If there were no applicants the post can be re-advertised. Contact Human Resources for advice.

What happens if there is a query about the application after the closing date?

Once the post has closed all enquiries must be directed to Human Resources in Ty Elai, Williamstown

What if an acknowledgment is not received for a posted application?

It has probably not been received by the recruitment team; any applications with insufficient postage are not accepted for instance.

Where are vacancies for teaching posts advertised?

All school based vacancies are advertised separately on E-teach and can be accessed via the E-Teach website at www.eteach.com. Alternatively you can request an application form by contacting the School Recruitment line on 01443 444549.

Which application form should be selected when inputting a vacancy on e-recruitment?

A disclosure form should be used for posts dealing with children or vulnerable adults and a general form for other vacancies.

Who can be contacted if there problems operating the e-recruitment system?

Who deals with candidates that are having problems with the online recruitment system?

Candidate support is provided via email by the Council’s online recruitment provider (WCN). Candidates can access support FAQs and the email address by visiting the Help Centre on the Council’s recruitment website

Why would the Council website not allow a form to be submitted?

All fields on the form must be completed for the form to be accepted. If the submit button is not pressed and accepted before the midday deadline the form will not be processed.
