RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION

A member of the team who is job share part time is interested in the post; can the manager change it to part time?

Managers will consider the needs of the service before deciding whether they would be able to reduce the hours of the post to part time, in any case the post will have to be advertised. The advert can include that part time and job share may be available for the post if it is suitable for the service area.

Are agency workers working for the Council able to apply for internal only vacancies?

Yes.

Are application forms acknowledged when received?

Online applicants receive status updates via email from the Council’s recruitment website at all stages of their application. Offline applicants receive acknowledgement of their application and any further communication by letter from Human Resources.

Are both internal and external vacancies advertised on Inform?

Yes. External vacancies are also advertised on the Council website at 

http://www.rctcbc.gov.uk/en/jobscareers/jobsandcareers.aspx

Are the job description and person specification available with the application form on Inform?

Yes, every post advertised on the Vacancy Bulletin is also listed individually together with the job description and person specification appearing below it.

Can a post be advertised before the job description is finished?

No, to advertise a post there must be a job description and person specification in place (which has also been job evaluated if it's a new post or any changes have been made to an existing post).

Can a post be offered to an agency worker in the team?

No, under the new Agency Regulations they can apply for any relevant internal vacancy from day 1 of their appointment but they would need to go through an open and clear recruitment process as would any other employee.

Can internally advertised vacancies be viewed from home?

Yes, employees who have access to Inform at work can log on to the RCT website at home and click on Staff Login in the bottom right hand corner. All jobs can be viewed on Inform under 'Vacancies.'

Can one application form be submitted for more than one vacancy?

No, you will have to complete separate forms for different vacancies.

Can the duties of a post be changed before it is advertised?

Yes as long as it is re-evaluated if the Job Description has changed.
