E RECRUITMENT

How do I recruit to a post?

If the post is already on Vision and the post holder has left, you need to review the post first to establish the following:

  • Is the post still needed?
  • If so should it be the same as currently?
  • Does the job description need updating?

If there are any changes to be made to the post these should be done first and the post evaluated again before advertising.

Once this has been done the post can be advertised using e-recruitment.

If it is a new post then a Job Description and Person Specification Pro Forma must be completed and evaluated. The pro forma can be accessed here.

Guidance on how to develop a person specification can be assessed here.

A Post Creation Form must then be submitted so that the post can be created in Vision before it is advertised. The Post Creation Form can be accessed here.

When all relevant information is available the post can be advertised using the Council’s e-recruitment site. Further information can be found on the e-recruitment page on Inform.

If a manager is on holiday for the short listing and interviews can someone else interview in their place?

A manager should take in to account annual leave dates when identifying dates for short listing and interviews to avoid this occurring.

The manager who placed the advert and who is identified as a panel member should participate in the whole process.
