Who will make the decision whether I am too ill to return to my post?
If you have been absent from work for several months you will have been referred to and seen by a medical practitioner at the Occupational Health Unit. The final decision on whether you are unfit to return to work will be made by an Independent Registered Medical Practitioner (IRMP) based within the Occupational Health Unit.
Will ill health retirement benefits or redundancy payments be affected by a flexible retirement arrangement?
A reduction in hours or grade before normal retirement age may affect ill health benefits, redundancy or compensatory payments. You should contact Human Resources for a discussion on these before proceeding with the option of a flexible retirement.
