• Aims & Objectives

    To assist staff in being aware of legal and practice requirements, consider applicable skills and participate in practical exercises intended to assist in developing transition plans, contingency plans and risk assessments in the context of the Mental Capacity Act and associated guidance.

     

    Transfers to new living arrangements can present practical challenges and require careful planning. Transition plans may need to be presented for approval to the Court of Protection and systematic practice and recording may be important in the event of criticial scrutiny of practice.

     

    This practice focussed session is intended bring together staff from different service areas and with different levels of prior experiences for briefings, group exercises and to provide feedback intended to further develop training and practice resources

     

    At the end of the session participating staff will:

     

    - Have received information about the legal context including statute, Code or Practice Guidance, Court of Protection Practice Directions

    - Have considered examples of completed plans

    - Participated in discussions with peers about learning needs, required skills and previous experiences

    - Have participated in group work and practical exercises

    - Have given feedback to assist further development of training
