    Please note this is a 3 day course carried out over a period of dates.


    The course aims to equip the delegates with an understanding of visual impairment and the educational implications on the child’s development and learning. It will provide clear advice on approaches and strategies to positively support access and the inclusion of the child within the school or setting. It will consider the following areas:-

    The educational implications for a child/young person with a visual impairment:

    • Impact of visual impairment on development and learning. 


     Enabling access to the curriculum and environment:

    • Practical approaches, methods and strategies to enable access to the curriculum


    Learning Objectives

    • To identify the specific barriers to accessing the curriculum for a with vision impairment
    • To select a range of appropriate strategies to enable the child’s access to the curriculum


    (There will be a wide range of resources and equipment used to support delivery of a practical and interactive course.)


    Session 1:

    Implications of vision impairment on learning and development

    Setting up the environment ready to work/play

    Session 2:

    Practical ideas and resources to support access to literacy

    Session 3:

    Practical ideas and resources to support access to numeracy.
