Aims and Objectives
By the end of the sessions participants will:
Have a better understanding of the importance of social media and the wider internet in relation to communication with other people
Have refreshed their knowledge about the principles of mental capacity
Have a better understanding of relevant case law
Not set the threshold for capacity too high by knowing what the "relevant information" is
Have explored case studies and have a better understanding of how to assess mental capacity in relation to social media & internet use
Have a better understanding of when it isn't necessary to assess a person's mental capacity in relation to social media & internet use
Be familiar with common mistakes when making best interest decisions, approaches that are too restrictive and contrary to the person's wishes and feelings
