Aims & Objectives
Course Aim – To further explore managers’ responsibility in respect of their
health and safety obligations.
Course Objectives - Participants will have had an opportunity to look at
violence at work from vulnerable people with reference to:
• The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 & MHSWR 1999
• Communication as a health and safety topic
• The concept of Managers’ vicarious liability
• Exploration of a suggested managerial process based on the work of
David Sheard
• Suggested written guidance to offer staff as part of the managerial
process. (Managers must do this by law as part of their obligations in
respect of the provision of information, instruction, training and
supervision)
